Someone with more knowledge than me will hopefully respond, but I can say that the Arcadyan router has difficulty connecting with some “Internet of Things”...for example Chamberlain garage door openers and some Samsung appliances. However, for reference, my Wyze security cameras connect without issue,I believe some folks have been able to fix connection issues by switching to an older security setting. Others have had luck adding WiFi extenders or even new routers to their Arcadyan.
***** Note, the home internet model type 5688W will support the myQ garage door opener. The model type KVD21 will not. Recommendation: Ask T-Mobile to swap them out. ***** Interesting...I already do have the KVD21.
Thanks for the info on this thread…. I have this problem with my Chamberlain garage door openers. Also, I have only been able to connect 2 of 4 of my Samsung “smart” appliances...so I wonder if this will also fix the connection problems with the other 2.
Update 2: Data stopped accumulating again 3 days ago. I think maybe the server that is tasked with data tabulation is going dowm...and I’m not sure that is a bad thing if these periods don’t score against my data-cap.
Itinkeralot...a question for you. I’m north of Durham and my cell tower is almost exactly as you described (5.5 miles, but I have line-of-sight as well). My download averages 60 mbps, with a low of 15 and a high of 130 observed. Uploads only a little slower than downloads typically. Router shows 4-bars, but some of the cell metrics not so hot. What are you seeing with yours? (sorry for the cell hijack!)
It works for me. I don’t recall the details exactly. but I think TM sends a text message to your router for the code. You can read the text message by futzing around with the router buttons and reading the message on the tiny screen.
I think the wired connection speed issue is just coincidence. I think you have a marginal cell signal, and your modem is switching to slower LTE speeds off and on. I think you should move your router around in your house (near windows or even out on a porch) and see if you can get a better cell signal.
Update: Looks like my free data party is over. As of 10:30 last night, data usage started accumulating again. The 54 gig total shown on the prior cycle was never updated or corrected. Looks like I had 3 weeks of free data.
So here is my data usage 4 days into the new billing cycle. My data stop accumulating on 11/20. If my data is showing up in your account, I apologize. Seems like my 200 gig plan may now be unlimited. Don’t tell anyone.
The Arcadyan router claims to be WiFi6 compliant..and I thought DFS channels are part of the deal with that.
I was commenting in the “other thread” that my usage totals have not been updating (still haven’t been BTW}….but I did notice that when they were updating, the time-stamps of high data-usage did not seem to be accurate. Sometimes they were, but other times when I was watching a 1080p movie at a certain time. the time stamps would sometimes not show it. Over the course of a day or two, I “think” the data averaged out to the correct totals, but didn’t think the time stamps were accurate. Now, for me, they aren’t updating at all. So, yes, maybe they are related issues.
Another week has gone by, and usage totals are still not updated. Stuck on 11/20 update. I’m curious...is *anybody* getting usage updates...or is this isolated to just some of us?
Smitty...no, it’s not the one you use to manage your account. It’s the app that is specifically used to manage your router. On andorid, it’s literally called T Mobile Internet in the Play Store.
Smitty...it’s not the T-Mobile app….it’s the *T-Mobile Internet* app. You may need to download it. It’s the app that let’s you control the router.
You should be able to go into the T-Mobile Internet app...under “Network” you can temporarily toggle off the 5 Ghz band, connect your camera, and then toggle the 5 GHz band back on.
I have the same problem...usage totals are not updating for over a week now. I need this feature to manage data on my “internet lite” plan so I don’t go over my limit. It’s pretty much a mandatory feature on a data-capped plan, and if it isn’t resolved I’m sure T-Mobile will lose customers. Seems really silly.
