I now suspect this is because I have a prepaid plan, and the eligibility above says “ All existing and new T-Mobile postpaid customers” are eligible.if this is true. it still makes no sense! why discriminate prepaid customers?
I finally got my new 5g gateway working today after removing the sim card from the old LTE device and put it to this one.I changed the wifi SSID to my old one and my door bells and thermometers are now all working (hate to reset and connecting all).Except my printer. the old gateway was 192.168.1.1 and my laser (etherneted) was set to 192.168.1.101. on the old gateway I can use manual ip assignment. of course right now due to the change to 192.168.12.1, that does not work any more.In addition, the new gateway wont show me all the IPs/Mac address of devices, wireless or not.so now I have to print a page from my printer to see what IP it has, and then have to change my port on my computer….I have 2 printers.Yes, I tried to see if I can change the default ip back to 192.168.1.1. but I could not.
how much power does it have? I am thinking to power a cpu fan to cool the 5G gateway itself….one fan says 0.3A at 5 V. I think it has enough power, but the amazon product page says “if more than 0.3A at 5v, it will damage the fan” which does not make sense. it should only take what it needs? USB-C has like 100 watts possible.
I do not see where to turn on the Mesh-wifi on. I turned most off and leaving one 2.4 GHz for my cameras/door bells, one 5G and one for guest.
no, the new 5g gateway not only has a different IP (192.168.12.1 instead of 192.168.1.1), but also it has no static IP for home devices. and because it kept rebooting itself, it is assigning a different IP each day for my two printers. this of course creates problems for me.when will Tmobile make a better firmware update with a basic router control we all need? (static ip, DMZ, port forwarding, etc, which are all lacking now).
I have had it for 2 weeks, with the newest firmware, 1.2101.00.1609 , but still self reboots once a day and once with wifi broadcast but no internet (had to poweroff and on by hand).speed is about 30-120 MBPS when working.
Well, that same router kept rebooting it self about once a day and I posted one comment on FB and right away someone contacted me.A 2nd unit was sent but it was refurbished and also not stable (stuck twice in 2 days). But when it was working it was much faster than the other unit (reaching 200 Mpbs) while the 1st one only about 120.I am waiting for a 3rd unit to arrive today.
there must be a way to rewire the internal battery so that it keeps the can running normally? it seems to be a waste of battery and it is always being charged for nothing.
my third unit was also “bad” (rebooting once a day). but 2nd unit was worse so I sent the 2nd one back. third unit suddenly became ok after firmware updated to 1.2103.00.0338. Last time it was 16 days with no reboot (I am now traveling with my wife checking it).Funny one tech support on FB said my house was not on the map so no 5G there anyway...but I do get 4 bars upstairs (but speed was lower than 1st floor, so I moved back to 1st floor, with 3 bars).
Do not hold your breath...I am having my 3rd tower and it still dies once a day. Tmobile tech support on FB says it is because my home address does not have 5G support, what a joke. I was asked to switch from LTE to this one! LTE was working fine for 4 years (stuck once every 2 months, needing a reboot).
T mobile tech support killed my cell line twice. The more recent one happened because I tried to ask to activate E-sim on my new S22+. they activated my wife’s number instead…. they wasted me 2 hours on phone and promised some “compensation” but then nothing. even when I called to complain.
I just got my 4th unit (still refurbished)...as soon as I tried to turn off all other wifi IDs (I think like 11 for 5G and 6 for 2.4 Ghz), then network speed became 25 mbps. without doing that it was 300. so I had to reset to factory and now keep all these extra IDs live. I used to do this for my first 2 units and it did not affect their speed. my third unit did this and I thought it was the gateway that was broken. my 4th unit still hangs once in a while. but sometimes it will come back without rebooting… when working I get 300-ish mbps download and 50-75 uploading.
I am having the same issue. My work email and gmail.com both works fine. but if I use my own domain, I can receive emails but not sending out any. Talking to my domain name host today, they said my IP was blacklisted by https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspxI talked to Tmobile and they say there is nothing they can do.I just rebooted my gateway and the new IP was also blacklisted. so it looks like most Tmobile IPs are no good?
I appears any IP starts with 172.58 (172.58.*.*) are blacklisted. so there is no way as customers we can do about this.
