...If I wasn’t “hooking up” to a more distant tower, then why were speeds at 840 kbps before I called her? Or did the tech do something else that wasn’t explained correctly? Just curious….. I agree, 840 kbps download speed is aweful.

I agree, 840 kbps download speed is aweful. I don't think you understand ,, The router and phone that uses the phone system cannot hook up to Towers that far away. The signals do not travel that far,… that's why cell towers are placed every 3-4 mile's away. No, I understand your point - I wasn’t questioning your comment on a router connecting to towers 40 miles away. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just trying to point out that @Mallo_1 said his download speed was 840 Kbps before him calling customer support - not 840 Mbps.
Hi @jpatfarrell,Go to YouTube and search for Cellmapper. There are several videos that will help you understand how Cellmapper works. I especially like Nate Tater's videos, because many of them cover TMO HI issues.
Hi @jerake75 ,What model gateway did you have and what replacement model did they send you?https://www.t-mobile.com/support/home-internet.html
Hi @kcampbell ,What TMO 5G Gateway do you have?
Hi @beaubeau,Could you post that link? I could use it too. Thanks!
Hi @kbklarry,Why does one have to assume that one doesn’t have internet to control the smart plug?
Hi @DeDon,I’m assuming you disputed the charge by TMO for the gateway with your credit card issuer. What was the outcome of that? Thanks!
@coooldad, you might want to take a look at this YouTube video by Nate Tater
@msyes, which 5G Gateway do yo have?
@msyes, on the KVD21 one uses the buttons on the gateway to go to "Messages". Then using the buttons one can view and then delete the messages. I hope this helps.
@bocaboy2591, I watched the Nate Tater video some time ago and thought his hack was doable. Like you though, the wireless coverage of my Arcadyan KVD21 was good enough (with the help in one room of a TP-Link RE305 Wi-Fi extender) and I ended up putting, like you, my router away. So I never tried shutting off my 5G gateway’s Wi-Fi. But, since @coooldad asked if there was a way to shut down the gateway’s Wi-Fi ...🙂
@Mzghost66 My understanding is that TMO starts charging the monthly fee the day that TMO HI is ordered.
Hi @shortyyy, what internet issues specifically are you having? Also, was your internet working before you starting having these issues, and what TMO HI gateway do you have?
Hi @eeeyow, the below thread had information you might find useful:
@thebaby051274, which TMO HI gateway do you have?
@eeeyow, if I'm understanding correctly, you are trying to use your FW2000e as a replacement for the gateway that TM provides to it's 5G Home Internet subscribers. My understanding is that the only way to activate the TMO HI service is with the gateway TM sends you (which comes with a SIM card pre-installed).
Hi @itdoesnotwork, since I’ve subscribed to TMO Hi in late Decenber 2022, I’ve had the Arcadyan KVD21 5G gateway. I haven’t had a problem with it so far.
@shortyyy, specifically, which TMO 5G gateway do you have (the Arcadyan KVD21, the Sagemcom Fast 5688W,…)?Also, are you encountering the issue while trying to set up your gateway for the first time, or has your TMO Homw Internet worked before and this is an issue you are having just now?
Hi @DXNL, are the two T-MOBILE-SYS-LINK networks yours? If so, have you connected a device to them?
@DXNL, In addition to the T-MOBILE network, I have four other networks created by TP Link extenders I have. However, these other networks do not slow my internet speed when I’m connected to the T-MOBILE network. All I can suggest (and you’ve propably done this already), if you previously had good speeds that have slowed down, is to reboot your gateway or change its location (in case that you are connecting to a different cell tower then you were before).
Hi @rablakely53, Which TMO HI 5G gateway do you have?
That’s the gateway I’ve had since December 2022. At activation it upgraded the firmware to version 1.00.18 and that’s still the firmware version my gateway is still on.
I just meant you might want to try to reposition your gateway. Maybe close to a different window. Maybe in a different area of your house. This could improve the quality of the signal your gateway is receiving.
Hi @Cathy J , what message app are you using?
