Paying for 5g internet but really getting 4LTE

I recently signed up for the 5G home intetnet after calling and asking quesrions 1) are there sufficent towers in my area? A).yes, there are 4- 5 in your vacinity. 2) do you get good speed out here A) yes you can get grear speed, on average people get 32-116mbps down load but can get more. You can have up to 64 devices running on the tower. 3) have there been any outages A) after checking youe area, in the 24 months since rolling it out there have been no reported outages. Ok good!! I get the router and place it where the set up says was optimal to the tower and got a good signal but horrible down load speeds! I placed it all over the room it said was the best and it didnt get better. I changed the placement, turned it every which way, short of standing on my head... it didnt get probably more than 10mbps down on average one morning at 5 am i got 70mbps and was happy but it lasted maybe 1 hour! I placed it all over the house for various days. I bought a repeater it didnt work, returned

Normal Speeds on Phone, but Super Slow on PC

Hello, I just recently received my 5G Gateway device and went through the whole setup and found the best spot getting me speeds of 400-500 down and 35-50 up with pings around 59-70 with very low jitter mostly. Fantastic speeds on my phone when connected, but no matter what I do, my PC, whether by ethernet or WiFi, only gets about 1-20 at best. I have done just about everything I know to do such as running TCP Optimizer for Windows on optimal settings, resetting the Gateway a few times, turning everything on then off, nothing has worked. I have an Eero 6 I routed it through as many people have had great success with this, but still the same issue. I have ran ethernet from the Gateway to the Eero, then to a switch to my pc, just the Gateway to Eero to my PC, and even just the Gateway to my PC and all the same results, 1-20 down. I should note that the Eero reports the proper speeds and my phone when connected to the WiFi on the Eero in this configuration also gets

No service with new SIM card, Sprint to T-Mobile

I've had my service for about 12 years now. Last summer I talked to the T-Mobile rep in a nearby city and was flat out told not to switch SIM cards because there was no coverage anywhere. This spring I had to replace my stolen phone and the SIM card is T-Mobile. I've called and gone into multiple stores, but stores tell me the towers are all the same now and a SIM card wouldn't help. Tech support says they'll send out a signal booster and a different SIM card, but it's been 3 months and they still say they're waiting on inventory. Sprint never had what you would call good coverage here, about .7mbps average for data, but if I left my house it was passable and I could at least stream Netflix most of the time at home. I stayed with Sprint for the unlimited data, but that's kind of a joke when you can't hardly stream a low quality movie. Still, it worked. At this point, I don't get enough service to make a phone call at home. Text messages come in days late if at all. Data usage is flat o

Why is T-Mobile 5G more like 3G?

The website Bipartisanpolicy.org compares common throughput for 3G, 4G and 5G. I am currently getting between 50kbps and 1gbps during peak drive times, which makes it impossible to use my Magenta perk of “free” Netflix, much less contact customer service or use the T-Mobile app. T-Mobile clearly throttles throughput during peak times. The best sustained throughput I have seen is about 2.4gbps according to FAST.com. This is only possible during early morning or very late evening. This is not 5G speed by any means. I’m surprised there have been no class actions regarding this issue. I wonder if Verizon is any better???

zelle texts

I have been trying to log into Zelle to make a transaction and as a secondary security I receive a code to log in for 2 factor authentication. I have not received any codes. I have ensured all short codes are unblocked I called Zelle to make sure they were sending. I rebooted my phone and also tried the airplane mode trick. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app. I called customer support at TMO and they said they see the messages in a buffer and don’t know why they’re not being received and said it must be Zelle. Zelle says the messages are going out and it must be T-Mobile. Anyone have pointers?

The Nokia x100 phone I purchased at a Tmobile store will not access the Tmobie calling system. I need someone at the Tmobile Executive Response Team to e-mail me at (email) or call me at # to get them to assist me in solving this problem. The local Tmobie store and the Tmobile chat room technical assistance has not been able to solve the problem.

Connecting to Wi-Fi While Traveling Abroad

My husband is currently traveling abroad and even though he has Wi-Fi in the building, his phone is not detecting it. Others are able to detect the Wi-Fi on their phones.He currently has roaming off (#ROF#)...and mobile data usage set to ON.Should he change these settings or is there something else he can do to detect Wi-Fi ??He is trying to use WhatsApp to text and make calls.Thank you.

Cellular Data not working-even changed phones

My kids were given Moto G Pure phones last year in Sept. As of the beginning of this year for no particular reason the cellular data we pay for is spotty at best, but mostly doesn’t work. My husband and I have Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 - no issues.My son’s Pure crapped out a few weeks back and we switched his SIM card into an old Pixel 3 was had as a back up, and STILL no data.Any ideas why this is happening?(FYI, past 10 years we’ve lived - and still live - right on Lake Michigan, but have never had data issues like this with any carrier)

Kyocera E4610/DuraXV LTE compatibility?

I have a Kyocera E4610/DuraXV LTE flip phone that was previously on VZW Prepaid. Was at the t-mobile store, they put a sim in and it looked ok. However, at I notice the phone appears to cycle between T-Mobile and “No Service” and the battery doesn’t seem to last very long. Starting to wonder if there might be some compatibility issue or if the phone is unable to fully register on t-mobile network. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

4G/5G icons but no data connection at all

My phone shows the icon that it is connected to 4G/5G but has absolutely no data connection at all. This happens primarily at my work location but it has never been a problem in the past. Do the icons actually mean anything at all or are they just there to make people think they have service? Yes, I’ve talked to a tech and they did their thing but it did not help at all. I’m to the point where I may have to change carriers….again. Are any of them consistently dependable? Why would my phone show a connection when it clearly does not?

Arcadyan KVD21 external antenna recommendations

Hello I recently purchased T-Mobile Home internet and received the Arcadyan router. Currently, I have 4 bars but when I move it closer to the TM antenna I dogged 5 bars, so it is possible. Question - has anyone had success adding an external antenna to your Arcadyan router? I have watched Nader Tader and others, but want to see is anyone on this forum has any hands-on experience. Thank you!

I live rural and I have pretty bad 4GLTE signal, using a Galaxy Note 9, and I wonder how I can contact T-Mobile to maybe improve their singal here

I live in southern Florida and I use RedPocket GSMT, and I noticed how T-Mobile has super spotty coverage where I live. I like T-Mobile because they support their older networks much longer than others HOWEVER, I strongly ask T-Mobile that I be able to call and text from my own house because it is nearly impossible to do so. I may catch 1 out of 5 bars of 4GLTE on my Galaxy phone if I am standing outside for long enough or it will catch a very faint 1 bar 4GLTE signal only for 10 seconds then back to cross sign signal on the top right corner! Not even do I get 2G “E” logo because 2G doesn’t exist around my house. It is frustrating that if I want to call or text my relatives or friends I have to go a couple houses down to catch a slightly stronger 4GLTE signal even get “E” sometimes. I am not saying I need to have all 5 bars at my house and I will be happy with just 2 or 3 but if someone can PLEASE help me on how I can contact T-Mobile for “Coverage Support” or something so I can have s

How can I tell if a cell tower is broadcasting 5G?

I recently acquired a T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Modem (Arcaydyan version) and I’m trying to figure out if I’m really getting a 5G signal or not. When I look at the Advanced Cellular Metrics, I can identify the cell tower I am connected to and it says I’m connected on band “b66”. Does that indicate 4G or 5G? How do I tell?

Would buying a new phone give me better service in areas with poor coverage?

I’m currently using an iPhone SE (2nd gen). My workplace is in a suburb of San Francisco. We experience very poor connectivity at work and so many staff connect to the workplace wifi for even the most basic texting and calling. T-Mobile Service can be either extremely week or non existent, but it seems to impact most all carriers. I’m curious to know if this could possibly be remedied by purchasing a better phone (iPhone 13 for example) or if that will even have an impact if the service is just weak. As I mentioned, I can connect to workplace wifi, but due to privacy concerns, I’d prefer to not rely on that service and would much rather use my carrier.
